Leather Love In

As we are only two weeks out from Christmas, I don’t doubt most of you will have a nice little list compiled for “Santa” (aka your other half, parents, siblings, grandparents). If you have, I hope there’s room on that list for one, two or even three more items, because I have some pieces you’re bound to love.

Through the powers of Instagram and a chance meeting at a craft fair in Galway, I was fortunate enough to be acquainted with Sandra of Lovern Leather Goods. I was already a fan of her beautifully crafted leather barrel bags and seeing them in person only reinforced how wonderful they are.

Inspired by a family gift passed down to her, the original barrel bag accompanied Sandra on many journeys over years of travelling and wonderful experiences. When unable to replace the original, she decided to create her own and the unique style was crafted and perfected over time to its current form. All hand stitched and made from rich Italian leather, the design is cool and modern, yet effortlessly classic and timeless. There’s no need to sacrifice form over function either as there is plenty of space for all your essentials without compromising on aesthetics.

Available in three colours as well as with a scallop detail, I was fortunate enough to try my hand at styling up the Lovern bags to share with you. Three bags, three outfits. So without further ado, let’s have a look at how they turned out!

Undoubtedly the colour of the season, it’s hard to go past the colour red. The contrast of the colour and texture against the cream teddy coat is a bold statement, which I’m all about. I also love it worked in more tonally with the burgundy and pink. Red and pink is one of my favourite colour combinations and I’ve recently become very fond of red and burgundy also. I’ve kept it cool and casual with a baker boy and Converse sneakers to let the bag and the colours do the talking. Big thanks to Zipyard Galway also for altering my velvet suit to perfection!

In case you’re thinking it, no this bag is definitely not black, it is absolutely a gorgeous dark green, something my dear friend and photographer extraordinaire, Kiera, was determined to highlight in these images. A firm favourite amongst the fashion set, this bag is the everyday, throw on and go wardrobe staple of dreams. Paired with some of my fail safe outfit essentials, this ensemble would take you from work, to drinks and beyond. I just love how rich the shade of green is. It’s dark enough that it’s season-less and totally versatile without being black. A little twist that elevates an everyday bag to the next level!

This is a bit of a bonus outfit so please excuse the repeated under-layers! We weren’t necessarily going to do a third look, but when we tried the tan bag against this fabulous faux fur, we couldn’t resist sneaking in another few shots! Plus, I think it’s great to show how effortlessly this style of bag has worked with my tried and tested wardrobe staples, such as a polo neck, these Weekday jeans and my fave white boots. I adore the scallop detailing on this bag and love how such a simple touch can be so effective. Once again, it’s bound to turn heads and garner questions whilst still being totally wearable and versatile.

So there you have it. Three beautiful bags worn three ways for the festive season. Thank-you to Sandra for being kind enough to collaborate with Kiera and I and joining us for a fun afternoon of shooting! Which is your favourite colour?? Or perhaps like me you’re struggling to choose just one! Hopefully you’ve enjoyed this post as much as I have!

Until next time,

Sinead
