Send Noods

Another day, another silly t-shirt. The humble slogan t-shirt has become a go-to staple in my ever-expanding wardrobe. It would almost be monotonous if they weren’t so bloody fun!

Perhaps my penchant for the t-shirt and jeans combo has stemmed from the line of work I’m in. Being a visual merchandiser is more than just playing dress-ups with big dolls (aka mannequins) day in, day out. Those “dolls” happen to be pretty heavy and often require brute strength to lift, carry and manoeuvre. That’s not to mention the amount of getting up and down off the ground we do, installing and cleaning window schemes as well as running up and down six flights of stairs several times a day!

Having the chance to work on the display team in Brown Thomas has been a fantastic step forward for me and in spite of the extensive manual labour, is something I greatly enjoy doing. Putting my styling and creative skills to use is amazing, as is constantly learning from the amazing girls I work with. It’s great to be growing and adding a few more feathers to my bow!

But back to the ensemble. I’ve realised after a few uncomfortable days wearing some pieces that are just not VM friendly, that I feel my most useful, but still stylish, by building upon my fail safe get-up with a quirky tee and cool denim. Luckily there are slogan tees aplenty on the high street and designer market at the moment. Plus, great news is they don’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon either! This bad boy here is one of my newest additions and is actually part of a pyjama set on ASOS. I loved the colours and cheeky slogan too much to not make it work outside of the house. I’ve added a checked blazer (similar here) for a little extra polish – no dressing gowns or Ugg’s in public please!

These jeans have serious potential to become my new favourites. They’re the Dree kick flare from Topshop and I’ve already gotten great wear out of them, even though I’ve only had them a short while! The super high waist and heavy, but still stretchy denim keeps everything held in place but still give you room to move. Ideal for work without compromising on style!

A novelty slogan helps takes a simple outfit to the next level, as does a bold accessory or statement shoe. My trusty tassel earrings from Betty & Biddy (similar here) and this Penneys bag pack another punch of yellow which I think lifts the look. And as for the shoes, I think these Public Desire bad boys more than speak for themselves. Whilst I’m sure they won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, these are what my boot dreams are made of!

Have you bought into the slogan tee trend yet? Or what outfit combo do you turn to on the regular? As always, I’d be delighted to hear all about it in the comments!

Until next time,

Sinead
