As a long time lover of all things denim, especially my trusty jeans, I always find myself on the lookout for fresh washes and styles to update my ever-expanding wardrobe. This season I’ve found myself going a little mad for stripes, so when I discovered these striped Mom jeans at work, I knew I needed to make them mine.
So first things first, for those not yet convinced on the Mom jean trend. I get it, I really do. Those vivid 80’s flashbacks might be enough to deter you from giving theses beauties a chance. And while I realise that they may not be everyone’s cup of tea, if you find yourself checking them out in store, take the plunge, try them on and at least see for yourself.
Personally, I find them to be the perfect happy medium between skinny jeans and boyfriend jeans: relaxed, but on trend with enough structure to keep an outfit pulled together. Plus, they are incredibly versatile. Mom jeans look great worn casually with a t-shirt and sneakers as well as being taken into the night paired with a silky cami, tucked and belted, and a pair of heels.
Anyway, I’m clearly obsessed with them (I own like five pairs, eek!), but these stripey delights are taking my obsession to the next level. They’re fresh, summery and enough of a statement that they catch the eye, but still neutral enough that I’ll get more than one token wear out of them.
I’ve worn them as I am above, with a simple black blouse (similar here), biker jacket (similar here) and a little bandana situation. I also picked up a nice pale pink chambray shirt (shop it here) which works really well with them for a slightly more preppy feel. Next, I’m thinking they’d work great with a cool vintage-style band tee, western belt and Gucci-esque loafers!
